Accomplishing the Impossible
Sometimes things happen in our lives that change everything. When this occurs, it's like the Hand of Life reaches into our little existence, takes our dreams, aspirations, and goals and rips the heart of that purpose from us.
When I became pregnant with my eighth child, I felt like that happened to me with my career aspirations. I instantly became very ill and knowing my history of high risk pregnancy I knew a rocky road was ahead of me.
I remember standing up from worshipping the porcelain goddess, knowing I couldn't do business as usual. I was too sick, in too much pain with too much unpredictability to be able to go on stage and deliver speeches, or have the energy to meet and greet people.
It was obvious the speaking part of my business had to go on hold. I sat down and brainstormed:
- What could I do?
- How could I make this situation work for me?
- Where was the gift in this?
It took awhile but I came up with what I needed to make it so I could run my business completely from bed if trouble brewed. Focusing on coaching was my method. The gift—the gift was I didn't feel well enough to go on a lot of business tangents. I really needed to focus. The need for more money also increased the pressure to really get serious about accomplishing my goals.
Another gift I discovered further down the path was that I loved coaching even better than speaking. I also learned I could attract clients with less effort with single focus. Although I did get up and go to a weekly networking meeting, I could also claim I made money mostly from bed. Something I never thought possible.
- What could you create in your business or personal life that seems impossible but would make the difference?
- When huge roadblocks fall on your path, what's the blessing and how can it be an opportunity?
- How can you make this incident or event change your life for the better?
